To release Kay Kavus from the prison of the White Demon and the king of Mazandaran (Arzhang-e Div), Rostam and Rakhsh began a dangerous journey.

In the first trial of Haft Khan, when Rostam was asleep, a fierce lion attacked Rakhsh. However, Rakhsh killed the lion.

The second trial was a barren desert. But a mountain sheep led Rostam to a spring and saved his life.

The third trial was a green land where a monstrous dragon lived.

In the forth trial, Rostam saw a disgusting witch who had a beautiful mask on her face and played a tambourine.

The fifth trial was a battle with a gatekeeper named Aulad who was trapped in Rostam’s lasso and showed Rostam the way through the cave of demons.

The sixth trial was a battle between Arzhang-e Div and Rostam, the son of Zal.

Lastly, in the seventh trial, Rostam entered the cave of demons in the middle of the day, when the sun was scorching and all the demons were sleeping.

Then Rakhsh took Rostam to the Seven Mountains (Haft Kuh), which had an endless cavern with the army of demons. when Rostam found the White Demon, his heart was full of fear. He prayed to God to help him overcome the White Demon. He stabbed the White Demon in the side with a dagger and took out its liver. He put three droplet of blood from the liver of the White Demon into Kay Kavus’s eyes.

The king’s eyes once again shone like the sunrise.

And so, the White Demon was killed. Tahamtan put the demon’s horned head on his helmet and used it in his battles.
